Meet Grace & Violet
Grace is an educator in Uganda who cares deeply for the girls in her community. When the pandemic closed schools, many of her students were pushed out of the classroom and into early marriages they did not choose. Many became mothers long before they were ready, without the support they needed.
Grace made it her work to help them return to school and reclaim their futures. GHC met Grace in 2022, while searching for our first partner. Her students were determined to finish their education, and our first fundraising event helped several of them do it.
Violet is one of those students. She plans to become a doctor, and her words gave A Need for Hope its name.
UWGE African Foundation
UWGE African Foundation is GHC’s partner in Uganda, led by educator Grace. The foundation helps girls whose education was interrupted during the pandemic return to school and continue their studies.
GHC’s support follows their lead. Grace and her team know their community, and they decide where help makes the greatest difference. Through A Need for Hope, we raise funds that go directly toward keeping students in school and moving toward the futures they’ve chosen.
